Runaway
03:35
|
|||
[Verse 1: Imagine]
Yo, uh
Things have changed but you’re not that different
Just bits and pieces that you brought back with you
Struggling through the cold ass winter
Life is hard you know we all have issues
Sometimes it would be easier to just runaway
But if you think about it you’ll feel better when the sun awakes
Another way we wish we’ll find before we leave
The less life we have left the more we breathe
Don’t leave it all behind, when she don’t show no signs
Love and happiness are two feelings that will cure your mind
And what’s yours is mine, that’s what we all say
The world is fucked up but it ain’t nobody’s fault here
Let’s make it all clear, we are the cause here
If we don’t stand up you know we’re bound to fall here
What’s new in stores here? Words from yours truly
Looking at the earth, just tell me how can we ignore beauty?
[Chorus: Imagine & Dr Koul]
Uh, yo
Looking at the earth, just tell me how can we ignore beauty?
How can we ignore beauty? (Eh)
Looking at the earth tell me just how can we ignore beauty
Eh, said I’m looking at the, uh, uh
[Verse 2: Dr Koul]
First to be last, last to be first
Thirst to expand like birds from the nest
Open hands outlast closed eggs
But groping hands caused an outbreak of closed legs
Like open banks cause an overdose in hopelessness
And no-man’s lands cause an influx in homelessness
Don’t pretend you didn’t notice this:
The more a man lends, the more his friends owe him shit
And you could say I need an optimist lens
I’m no optometrist, but with the cause 100 percent
I’m all in 20-20 with nothing left
And despite my pessimism I’m in love with my life
Don’t need rose-tinted glasses I don’t see with my eyes but with my heart,
And the heart never ignores the beauty of life, even in dark
[Chorus: Imagine & Dr Koul]
Looking at the earth, just tell me how can we ignore beauty?
Uh, how can we ignore beauty? (Eh)
Looking at the earth tell me just how can we ignore beauty
[Verse 3: Evita Koné]
Feeling weak through bleak times
I’m showing evidence of peaks through deep likes
On the sides of my cheeks I show sings
That I am meek though I once smiled
I nosedive into a blissful oblivion
Where there’s no balance within the meridian
An elusive and ethereal comedian
I ask if hiding is a part of healing when you’re
Already in the deep end
When you're already in the deep end
I’m losing sight of what to do
Getting tangled as i trip over my roots
I’m tryna understand that
To be strong, you gotta be loose too

Error Era
02:58
|
|||
[Intro: Dr Koul & Imagine]
Yo, uh
S-K-D (motherf*****)
(DJ, y’all)
Come on, uh
[Dr Koul: Verse 1]
Break the machines like "error, error"
Breaking your dreams like "error, error"
Hate and deceit brings terror
Better learn before you burn, better late than never ever
Wage war with every page you turn, it's "error, error"
We use your drones against you
Your schools, your tools, it's all in a fool's errand
Your soul is spent through like the tip of a pencil
And the drip of a stencil, it's the end of the old era
[Imagine: Verse 2]
When is the right moment to make the best move
To keep your light glowing and let the rest groove
Lie in denial or choose to learn something
In the fire of desire who doesn’t burn something?
A trail of failure or a mountain of knowledge
In this fairy tale what does the coward acknowledge?
Open your mind and see what hides behind the scenes
It’s a thin line between you and I but we can find some peace
[Chorus: Evita Koné]
You're allowed to make mistakes but not to hide them
The underground ain't for fakes so don't try bluffing
You know you got what it takes when failure's not an option
Ride with precaution
You're allowed to make mistakes but not to hide them
The underground ain't for fakes so don't try bluffing
You know you got what it takes when failure's not an option
Ride with precaution
[Imagine: Verse 3]
Are you the yin or yang, why d’you stay in the ranks?
Who’s gonna fill the banks with no more bills to spend?
Watch them all kill the lands, how can they still pretend?
They made this shit commence, who’s gonna make it end?
[Dr Koul: Verse 4]
When perfection is impossible and error's unavoidable
The lesson is you've got to know your limits
And the choice is to let go and take the risk
Or let it roll and reposition
It's a battle of the wits so win or lose you’ll gain wisdom
The brain listens, the muscles are tamed with it
The aim's limited when you're stuck with the same gimmicks
We shuffle lyrics and spit with the greats in this game
We make business with chillers whose names will remain
[Imagine: Verse 5]
Yo it all goes together, everything’s connected
Mind body and soul, all should be respected
Stop looking for perfection, it doesn’t exist
Mistakes are new directions so that you can persist
Come on
[Chorus: Evita Koné]
You're allowed to make mistakes but not to hide them
The underground ain't for fakes so don't try bluffing
You know you got what it takes when failure's not an option
Ride with precaution
You're allowed to make mistakes but not to hide them
The underground ain't for fakes so don't try bluffing
You know you got what it takes when failure's not an option
Ride with precaution

Stop, Look, Listen
03:40
|
|||
[Scratches: Dj Tiny Tim]
[Verse 1: Evita Koné]
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure
And one man’s stress is another man’s pleasure
Who am I to say which one of these men is lesser?
We pretend to crack the codes
But really we are all just guessers
That someone else’s greenery is alway greener than in reality
Have you looked up at the scenery
Sometimes that shit’s beyond belief
So take a deep breath
And you can save yourself a little grief
No worries comparison is only joy’s thief
[Chorus: Evita Koné & Imagine]
You stop, you look, you listen
What’s missing? It’s not so bad
Don’t be mad, it’s time for a new beginning
[Verse 2: Imagine]
Don't know which side of the coin will find me enjoyment
Because I'm at the point, need to let it out so I can finally be joyful
If my mind isn't open, I will so blindly be focused
Asked mother earth if she could write me a poem
A life to be told here, the liveliest moments
In a world of chaos we be fighting the omens
Uniting our forces, we be lighting the torches
Our goal is simple: to use all the words we have
Until the rhyming is over.
[Chorus: Evita Koné & Imagine]
You stop, you look, you listen
What’s missing? It’s not so bad
Don’t be mad, it’s time for a new beginning
You stop (you stop), you look (you look)
You listen (you listen), what’s missing (what’s missing)
It’s not (it’s not), so bad (so bad)
Don’t be mad, it’s time for a new beginning
[Verse 3: Dr Koul]
Hate is a hot coal so don't hold a grudge
Your plate of revenge is cold and probably infected with bugs
Is it not so? You're seeking the perfect chill
Warm sun and a breeze, calm trees and a still sea over effort's hill
But you've got to build up your skill,
And you've got to work on being humble
What is there when your thoughts distill,
And you look into your heart and there's only jungle?
Put down the machete and gather the fruit of your labor and eat your fill
Come around when you're ready and open the gate and be friendly so we can build
[Chorus: Evita Koné & Imagine]
You stop (you stop), you look (you look)
You listen (you listen), what’s missing (what’s missing)
It’s not (it’s not), so bad (so bad)
Don’t be mad, it’s time for a new beginning
You stop (stop), you look (look)
What’s missing (missing), it’s not (not), so bad (bad)
It’s time for a new beginning

Wassup
03:44
|
|||
[Scratches: Dj Tiny Tim]
I got something I want to say to you
[Verse 1: Evita Koné]
Oh, oh, oh, oh
I bring vision to the blind
I make the mean spirited kind
And if you try a little tenderness
When your heart is so calloused
I’ll give you what you need, I’ll give you what you want
I plant a seed and I watch it grow
Sing a little serenade and we can lie down in the shade
And say, “Wassup?”
I’m happy, to be spending time with you, wassup
Share a little stolen moment
I think its cool and I’m just grateful
To spend a moment just us two, oh I
Wassup, wassup
Wassup, wassup
Can you lay in the shade with me, oh
I know, I know things have been so frayed lately
Can you lay in the shade with me
I know that it ain’t been easy, oh, just all I need
[Chorus: Evita Koné]
Summer’s almost up and
I don’t wanna rush into nothing
You leave my soul humming
My special something
Because summer’s almost up and
I don’t wanna rush into nothing
You leave my soul humming
My special something
Wassup, (uh!) wassup, wassup,
Wassup, wassup, wassup, wassup
Wassup, wassup, wassup, wassup
Wassup, wassup, wassup, wassup
Wassup, wassup, wassup
[Imagine: Verse 2]
Wassup girl, it’s been a minute!
Let’s hold this feeling until it’s finished
A dedication, eulogy
Just meditating, you and me are left here waiting
At the funeral of our memories
The energy is scattered, whatever we imagined
We’ll never know what happens, we might never leave this magic
Things could go wrong if we plan too much
And this is just my way to thank you, love
[Dr Koul: Verse 3]
I was blind but now I can see
Because I finally closed my eyes, now my mind is free
And accepted the darkness
That’s where begins the light, that’s inside of me
I used to be blind by reflections
And looking too hard for perfection
I was afraid of the loneliness
But now I feel OK if there is only us, yeah
[Chorus: Evita Koné]
Summers almost up and
I don’t wanna rush into nothing
You leave my soul humming
My special something
Summers almost up and
I don’t wanna rush into nothing
You leave my soul humming
My special something
Ooh, oh, oh, oh

Original Shape (poem)
01:03
|
|||
[Dr Koul]
I speak rhizomes in freestyle poems that leave my dome
To meet my opponent with greetings and eyes open
A wise omen to those who tried roaming too close to the wide open
But chose to confine others to lines closed
It's a fine road that we trod and fall off from
Lie to cope with lack of self-love that we laugh off
We tie a rope to our dreams, dying of sad thoughts
Defeatist I am not, the foetus of mad love
Is born from a war-torn tone-deaf sound of a bomb dropped
In a sworn oath to never a abandon hope
Rolling rock like a band on road, ever stoned without a gram of coke
We demand our cut of grandma's rolls
Never over in graves, we came over from caves
To so-called civilization and we lost all of our hard-earned greatness
Under tar roads paved, where a car drove for ages to far-off places
And still lost the amazon to corporate waste
Copy and paste as we carry on sampling grace
Aiming for outer-space with a culture we re-create
We will be saved by our innocence
Placed here as middle men between what we planted and ate
We are the children of fate, we never planned on change
But now adapt to return back to our original shape
It's called Hip Hop

We Are
02:55
|
|||
[Verse 1: Dr Koul]
Here we go, here we go, here we go, here we go
Yo,
Middle class like John Lennon
People party like Vlad Lenin
Media savvy like Don Lemon
Tragicomedy like Jack Lemon
Astrophysics like Tyson
Knuckles itching like Tyson
Academic like Dyson
Life’s a gamble, throw dice in
All the snake eyes, I could make ice out the venom
At the same time, can’t complain I’m quite the gentleman
Born with privilege, torn from within
Missed opportunities I’d been given
Scorned the influence and then just jumped back in again
I’m a warrior for peace, I’m a doctor for the sickness
Done just enough school to know it’s all a big business
I got just enough cool to choose to be a musician
Broke just enough rule to know ruse can’t make up for wisdom,
Wassup?
[Verse 2: Evita Koné]
Oh, oh-ooh-oh
I am that black light, help you find that silver lining
Shining like a backlight, sit down and get your facts right
Better act right, because I’m passed wise
I prophesized, don’t listen up it might pass you by
Karma circumvents just like a satellite (like a satellite)
Because I’m an old soul with much to bestow
Truth is best when it's stone cold because we both know
I been down these same old roads
When your ego’s in a choke hold
And you never let the ghosts go
And you can’t take off the blindfold
You don't know that you’ve been sold (that you’ve been sold)
[Verse 3: Imagine]
We got a lot of things to say (say) but we’re not sure we’ll be okay (okay)
Now let us ride a different wave (wave) so we can finally be awake
Start from scratch mind the fire, heart’s the match
Light it up, cross the path
We’re on a universal quest, yeah
And you can be our guest here
Open doors, that’s what we’re hoping for
We let life teach things we didn’t know before
“Dreams took place here”, we know where we wanna go
We make music for the soul, so if you want to feel the love
Connect to the above, now you can let it go
You can let it go, you can let it go
[Evita Koné]
You can let it go

Que Brilla (poem)
00:50
|
|||
[Xoel Gonzalez]

Not The Same Planet
02:00
|
|||
[Verse 1: Imagine]
Yo, yeah
Let my mind travel through the heart of the night
Take a pen, I’m on board, let the darkness bring light
Nightly on the grind dreams are hard to find
Music in my soul keeps my stars aligned
Wish luck to the homeless sleeping on the bank’s steps
Thinking I have choices that others can’t get
Yet I keep rolling, police drive by my time is stolen
Keep watching in a town of clocks, sleep walking
Until the sound just drops
[Chorus: Dr Koul & Evita Koné]
Drive around like a fancy clown
Not the same planet, same part of town
Drive around like a fancy clown
Not the same planet, same part of town
Drive around like a fancy clown
[Verse 2: Dr Koul]
Riding shotgun as your ghost drives the city streets
Rhyming at the top of our lungs while the city sleeps
You roll a one-arm backside spliff
Other hand on the wheel like a one-man army kid
The jet d’eau lit up, eerie like your beat list
I let go and lean back, letting the seat lift
Swerve despite the level of alkie in your breathing system
Hoping we ain’t stopped by the cops, because of the speeding limit
Philosophies of critics and dirty thoughts
Not yet erased by the sweeper cars setting off
On the slumbering pavements where they clean the filth
Hide what’s a daily occurance in Geneva still
[Chorus: Dr Koul & Evita Koné]
Drive around like a fancy clown
Not the same planet, same part of town
Drive around like a fancy clown
Not the same planet, same part of town
Drive around like a fancy clown
[Outro flute by Ewan Dayot]

Now You Know
03:33
|
|||
[Chorus: Dr Koul & scratches by Dj Tiny Tim]
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you don’t know
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you don’t
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you really don’t
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you don’t (Now you know)
Don’t know
[Verse 1: Dr Koul]
Socrates said that he knew that he knew nothing
But I’ll even question that as I rap my assumptions
Indeed, so few certainties that I’m even uncertain of my own uncertainty
And lord knows I’m no Socrates – and when we say “Lord knows”
We’re admitting we sure don’t, and instead of giving up
We trust in something beyond us and our insecurities and still have hope
We’re living in a system wired by a mechanistic scientism
On the basis of acquiring materialistic tokens and creating hierarchies
Validated by our outlook on lightwaves and particles, but I reject it
There may be so much more to this world and we can’t detect it
Decolonize and harmonize the dialectic, fighting for open-mindedness
Finding my life’s lessons, until death... and then what lies waiting?
[Verse 2: Imagine]
From a superficial handshake to a rushed goodbye that can’t wait
If we’ve known each other forever then
Why do you choose to look the other way?
Why do we care so much what others say?
And while we can’t do nothing about this
It is only ourselves we’re doubting. Look at us
Trying to do too much just for appreciation
Mental alleviation, bunch of fake moments with no abbreviation
Why do you talk so much if you don’t know shit?
Is it some kind of way to keep avoiding all that you're scared to face,
And so you wear a mask because you can’t bear the hate.
Why do you care so much what others say?
Look deep inside there is another way
[Clarinet solo by Clément Meunier]
[Evita Koné: Verse 3]
Got nothing to prove to nobody
We’re all part of a ruse, we’re just probably going
Through so many costumes, nobody’s here living
Like we know all the rules, it's all a drawing
But I don’t have it all sketched out
No drafts but the task is to take the mask off
Come on and air it out, if you don’t have it figured out
The picture’s getting bigger now
[Bridge: Evita Koné]
We would rather our worries stay underground, because
What we’re looking for will not be in the lost and found
[Chorus: Dr Koul & scratches by Dj Tiny Tim]
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you don’t know
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you don’t (Now you know!)
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you really don’t
Don’t act like you don’t know if you know
Don’t act like you know if you don’t (Now you know!)
Don’t know
[Outro: Evita Koné]
We would rather our worries stay underground
What we’re looking for will not be in the lost and found
We would rather our worries stay underground
What we’re looking for will not be in the lost and found

When You Hear It (poem)
01:25
|
|||
[Evita Koné with backing vocals by Dr Koul]
Love, love, love
Silent symphonies that rush through every single artery
The song is not boastful nor loud
But is as hopeful as a cloud spotted in a drought
Yet you feel its cacophony from the pit of your stomach to every extremity
The sweetest bitterness that just won’t let up
That is there even when you’ve given up
The melody felt from within and heard from all around
The dialects it speaks are manifold but fear not if your tongue is weak
And your ears are ill-versed in its patois, you will know it when you hear it
You will know it when you hear it, you will know it when you…
Love, love, love
Everybody just wants to
Love, love, love
Beatles they say all we need is
Love, love, love
Grab somebody, tell them that you
Love, love, love

Fall In Love
03:18
|
|||
[Verse 1: Dr Koul]
Yeah,
What’s that? The nonsense
Of your conscience, and another love trap
An obsession with your common-sense
Provocation of a sort of really ugly hard smack
And a blessing, dissimulated in the form of a lesson
A girl that never calls back (Fall in love) Please don’t...
[Verse 2: Imagine]
An arrow but no aim or destination
Just a simple problem with a hard solution in the midst of hesitation
First look is just too vague to even know what lies there waiting.
Just don’t...
[Verse 3: Dr Koul & Imagine]
Who’s that? It’s your conscience
Telling you to bring love to an honest point
No rules or conditions, just a new and improved
Bound to disappoint
[Verse 4: Imagine]
Now wake up! It’s the only way to save us
You can’t make me
[Verse 5: Imagine]
Gave it all to you, from the mind to the heart
Don’t wanna fall for you. Please go away
You think I’m yours today?
(Lies from the start) you never told the truth.
[Verse 6: Dr Koul]
You never showed your moves, and neither did I
Didn’t want to owe it to you, I guess I shouldn’t (Fall in love)
I shouldn’t fall in love
[Chorus: Evita Koné]
I said that I should be careful with where I put my heart
Because things can build up just as fast as they can fall apart
But I know I’m lighting a fuse that’s about to spark
But I don’t know where to start
I said that I should be careful with who I fall in love
We try to deal with our demons but we ain’t strong enough
But I can’t help it in the end, we must be bound to
(Fall in love, fall in love)
[Verse 7: Evita Koné]
Cautious and so careful
Trying hard just not to be fearful
Because I learn from mistakes
Have faith in the risk that I take
Every tear’s just a drop in the lake
And the waves that I make bring me to the gates
And from yourself, you know there’s no mistake so
[Verse 8: Dr Koul]
Honest and aware of how hard it can be to be faithful
When you suffer a heartbreak and hardly can tolerate
Thoughts that can suffocate, love that is commonplace
Costly and complicated, yet constantly contemplating
Other options than making me
[Verse 9: Imagine]
Why does it have to get worse when I try my best?
Want it so bad to work, need to mind my step.
(Lost in my soul but I know if I go, I will grow)
Realise all the time I spent, trying to be what I wasn’t,
Didn’t see what was coming, now my feelings don’t function.
I don’t mean to...

Letting Go (poem)
00:38
|
|||
[Imagine]
Pain provided pleasure to the reason of letting go
Letting go was just a matter of time
Time was killed to provide pleasure to pain
Pain wasted time looking for pleasure
Pleasure was playing hide-and-seek with the idea of letting go
When would pain let go? Time had no idea
Now the idea of pleasure was painful because time didn't come
And letting go wasn't a good reason
So reason left more time for pain to go and provided new ideas of pleasure
So pleasure finally took the time to kill the pain and found a reason to let go

Space Cake
03:34
|
|||
[Verse 1: Evita Koné]
You’re breaking the score, you're waging a war
You’re playing the game and you’re taking it all
[Verse 2: Imagine]
Escaping it all, breaking the law
Taken for granted, you're breaking her heart
[Verse 3: Dr Koul]
Too late to ignore this place in your soul
The shape of a hole, can't relate to the story
[Verse 4: Evita Koné]
That takes the cake, your name on the wall
Save it for later, you're blamed for it all
[Verse 5: Imagine]
You thought it was real, you’re lost in your feelings
You'd never expect what your heart could reveal
[Verse 6: Dr Koul]
So cherish your meal, deliciously real
Delectable delicacies are concealed
In everyday moments you let yourself steal
Emotions are sold but your soul is sincere
[Verse 7: Imagine]
Your spirit is growing like roses in spring
Don't do what you're told, just do what you feel
[Verse 8: Evita Koné]
Grow like a tree, it’s branches and leaves
Roots are your ancestors, moving with ease
[Verse 9: Dr Koul]
The wind and the breeze,
[Verse 10: Evita Koné]
The mountains, the peaks
[Verse 11: Imagine]
The source of it all, who knows what it means?
[Saxophone bridge by Esther Vaucher]
[Chorus: Imagine & Evita Koné]
There are some things we just can’t talk about
There are some things we just can’t talk about
There are some things we just can’t talk about
There are some things we just can’t talk about
There are some things that we just cannot talk about
I don’t know if I should open or shut my mouth
If I tell you what’s on my mind, would you stick around?
(Would you stick around?)
There are some things that we just cannot talk about
I don’t know if I should open or shut my mouth
If I tell you what’s on my mind, would you stick around?
Ooh

Make Music
04:22
|
|||
[Intro]
The beginning of the end of the end of the beginning has begun.
A sad finale played off-key on a broken-down saloon piano
In the outskirts of a forgotten ghosttown.
I'd rather not bear witness to such blasphemy (Me neither)
[Verse 1: Imagine]
Yo, wassup, it’s like this,
Yeah, yo, one time, yo
Looking for a thought like, “What if I write my best shit tonight?”
Fight for everything I believe in. But in the end what do I really believe in?
Smart question but no answers, so I make of this art a lesson
Hard deceptions but I gotta start accepting
There can be other ways that lead to different places
I think I’ve been here to long it’s like I’m switching stages
Damn – Like a verse I’m gonna need a structure (woah)
But life is all around the place, it’s like I’m feeling stuck here
So contradictory… All I know is that I’m breathing
All the rest my friend belongs to mystery
I just repeat myself, ain’t this just all a cycle?
And it’s meaning is this thing we call survival?
What makes me feel alive more than anything
Music, soothing to the ear, beautiful thing to die for!
[Chorus: Imagine & Evita Koné]
Now you can’t tell me what to do, can’t change my point of view
It’s all that I’ve been through, the music is like glue
Sticking to all my moves, I know just what to do
When I’m right here with you: make music, make music
[Verse 2: Dr Koul]
I’m wasted, but no drink
Drowning, nor any drop to drink
Breaking, nor any drink to drop
Glass shatters around me – but no drink
I’m waiting, but no tick
Hands raised, nor any clock to tick to
I’m pacing, like man’s late, nor any tick to talk to,
Time stand still and still stays with no tick
Pain portrayed in painstaking portraits
Purveyed by poor paupers peddling passing protests
See sex as sinful by saintly supervisors successfully
Severing senses from seemingly sweet sentiments
I’m stuck looking at free beauty behind bars, clutching at straws
Feeling pent-up in the large-open bizarre land of the hopeless
Engulfed by nothingness of the stars
The beauty behind closed eyes within
To behold hard the unknown, far more than the said
The living more lost than the dead
And all I’ve got are these thoughts in my head
And I translate them into music. Music
[Chorus: Imagine & Evita Koné]
Now you can’t tell me what to do, can’t change my point of view
It’s all that I’ve been through, the music is like glue
Sticking to all my moves, I know just what to do
When I’m right here with you: make music, make music
[Outro chorus: Evita Koné]
Now you (now you) can’t tell me what to do (can’t tell me what to do)
Can’t change my point of view (can’t change my point of view)
It’s all that I’ve been through (it’s all that I’ve been through)
The music is like glue (the music is like glue)
Sticking to all my moves (sticking to all my moves)
I know just what to do (I know just what to do)
When I’m right here with you (when I’m right here with you)
Make music, make music
(Make music, I know what to do)
(Like glue, oooh)

[Verse 1: Evita Koné]
Tell me that it's so absurd that all that we have in this world
Is just a kind word. Tell me that it makes no sense that
When I used up all my strength it’s all I have left
Tell me that it's so absurd that all that we have in this world
Is just a kind word. Tell me that it makes no sense that
When I used up all my strength its all
I have left and, I have bled, I have said all that needs to be said
Been left for dead, heart heavy as lead
But in the end I still hold up my head. Hold up my head
[Verse 2: Dr Koul]
Childish dreams, run like streams
Teens, destined to be kings and queens
Partners in crime
I falsely thought that we’d end up as partners in life
Castle walls, painted us gray
Colorful memories, fading away
Dissolved, like sand monuments
Or angel wings drawn on front lawns
Frost, that we’re numb to
Damn – the last time I saw you
The passion and fire was gone from your eyes
Your beauty a far-off reminder of love’s passage in time
Nothing destroyed, it only transforms
At least that’s my hope for your newborn
Unfairly shoehorned into this world
[Verse 3: Imagine]
Oh your kingdom is stolen!
Wondering why did they take it away
Or did you just lose it yourself?
Unfaithful, untruthful you fell
Now it was so easy taking you down
But who’s gonna be picking you up?
The luck’s gonna be missing you much
When patience is waiting around
Now the soul that is hidden calls back
To get in the whole that you're digging.
You can’t hold back the feeling
You sold out your spirit, you thought it was finished.
The closer you get from things that you lost the harder it is to let go
And time can’t fill in all the tears that you dropped, hot enough to melt gold
[Trumpet solo by Evita Koné & Zacharie Ksyk]

[Quentin Byrne-Sutton]
My Friend the Moon
The moon has appeared without a sound pregnant in the Eastern sky,
waiting to help me on my way.
The night is blue,
infused with yellow rays.
I turn off my headlamp,
eyes adjusting to the softer light.
The moon has flooded the cirque of snow and ice, ridges are cut out in black like moon shadow.
We are alone together; our eyes meet.
The earth is revolving underfoot
but the moon and stars are turning too,
that I may keep my balance on the moon path.
Gazing at my friend the moon,
I think of those I love
imagine ponies galloping on moonlit plains,
wild and fiery eyed,
fish gliding under translucent ice, in a moonbeam, blue turbans of Touaregs winding through the night.
Following the moon from East to West
I reflect on man’s arrogance,
but am soothed by its rays,
knowing that moonlight comes from the sun as it treads the Milky Way,
with all planets spinning through the universe;
our pretentious ways as short-lived as a shooting star.
Meanwhile,
the night’s blueness has blended seamlessly
into light of day,
and for a moment the sky belongs to neither night or day,
as my friend the moon fades, translucent, in the Western sky, as if to say:
“I am only a passer by”.

[Verse 1: Imagine]
Hello planet, organic source of life
The story is only yours to write
Go back as far as you can remember
Memories crashing, truth will surrender
Abstract thoughts of distant lands
Where flowers grow on sinking sands
Instant glance of eternity
In the lonely brain of a thinking man
Picture is shot directly to the soul
Images like bullets, times are holes
Situations, that climbed and rose
From the shoulders of the unknown
Now the crowd of doubt just wants to be alone
In your house, but you don't feel at home
Mystery sings a song that we can all hear
If we let our fears sing along
[Verse 2: Dr Koul]
Hello galaxy, rotating space and time
Across eternity with shape divine
String dimensions unwound, in theory
Unbound in the multiverse they collide
Sound creates matter inside your great caverns
Surrounded by somatic insights to your patterns
And crowns. Your sunny complexion,
I love the way it travels around
Galloping the Higgs Boson, interloping gravitational pulls
Ever subliminal image of God that forms a painting of you
From the abyss to the stars, your black holes to your sonic boom
Your attention to the chronic doom, ever-impending like a crescent moon
Or lack of shadow in the sunday noon, you make the cosmos bloom
We’ll come together someday soon
[Chorus: Evita Koné, Imagine & Dr Koul]
When the moon goes around the sun
Only then we’ll assume that we found the one
Until then we keep moving to the sound of drums
When the moon goes around the sun
Only then we’ll assume that we found the one
Until then we keep moving to the sound of drums
When the moon (When the moon)
Goes around (Goes around) the sun (The sun)
When the moon goes around the sun
(When the moon)
Only then we’ll assume that we found the one
(Goes around)
Until then we keep moving to the sound of drums
(The sun)
When the moon goes around the sun
(When the moon)
Only then we’ll assume that we found the one
(When the moon)
Until then we keep moving to the sound of drums
(When the moon)
